Dear Hill-Roberts Families,
Happy Lunar New Year!
We cannot believe that the six weeks between Winter Break and February Break are coming to a close. Students and teachers, alike, have worked very hard to make the most of this critical learning stretch. Way to go Huskies!
To have some fun, while keeping us focused on learning, this week we will be having several fun, themed days (see flier below). With this in mind, please keep in mind our District's food policy: no food or candy items are allowed to be sent to be shared with classmates. However, pencils, stickers, and cards are all perfectly fine to send in if you choose!
Please see the updates below and please note that the next Husky Howler will post the week after February break, on 3/2. If you have any questions before then, please feel free to reach out to us. Have a wonderful week and a fantastic February break!
Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Madden, Principal
Ms. Nora Hassan, Assistant Principal

Update - Outpatient Mental Health and Wellness Resources
Any resident of Attleboro or student attending the Attleboro Public Schools (through a guardian) can access the William James College INTERFACE Referral Service. The INTERFACE Helpline helps individuals in subscribing communities become connected with outpatient mental health and wellness resources. Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. Please see What to Expect When You Call the Helpline or visit interface.williamjames.edu for more information. The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.

Update - School Report Card
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available at https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/2023/00160045. Here is a link to a letter, in English, Arabic, Chinese, Hatian Creole, and Spanish explaining the School's report card. If you have questions about our school’s report card please feel free to contact me, Dr. Paul Madden.
Update - 2nd Grade Swim Letters / Permission Slips - Due Wednesday 2/14
A welcome letter and waiver form was sent home in your student’s backpack last week. These are due back on Wednesday 2/14. If you did not receive it then let your child’s teacher know or drop by our main office for an extra copy. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Dr. Madden or, if it is swim specific, Mr. Joe Winston, YMCA Aquatics Director (508-409-0765; jwinston@attleboroymca.org).
Update - Kindergarten Info Night
Do you know anyone with school age children ready for Kindergarten for next year? The Attleboro Public Schools is pleased to host Kindergarten Information Night on March 7, 2024. This evening provides families with information on how to enroll a student in Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. Early Learning Center parents should also plan to attend this evening to receive information for the next steps in the ELC to Kindergarten process. More information can be found here: https://attleboropsma.sites.th...
Reminder - Attendance Support
We know that families play an essential role in reinforcing timely and regular student attendance. See the link below for some tips on encouraging and supporting your student. As a reminder, all APS Attendance Policies can be found in the student handbooks.
Save the date! A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase
On March 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 PM, Attleboro Public Schools (APS) will host A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase. Now in the second year of this annual event, this evening is an opportunity for APS staff, students, families, and community organizations to come together as students throughout the district display their learning experiences and local community resources share information about their services and programs. The goal of this event is to bring all stakeholders from the community together to celebrate student successes and share resources. More information to come soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
Reminder - Nurse Update - Dental Visits, Vision and Hearing Screenings, Eyeglass Donations
Dental Visits - The mobile dentist will be back at Hill Roberts on Tuesday, Feb 27th. If your child was seen in the Fall, they will automatically be seen on this day. If you do not have a dentist, and would like your child to be seen, please contact the nurse for a sign up form.

PTO Announcements
Grade 4 Yearbook Cover Contest WINNERS!!!
We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Yearbook Cover Contest! Each year, all fourth grade students are invited to submit a drawing to a contest for the front and back cover of the yearbook. All fourth grade students vote on the submissions. The picture with the most votes is used as the front cover and the picture with the second most votes is used on the back cover. We had some of the best submissions we’ve EVER had this year. All of the students worked so hard and should be so proud! ALL of the submissions will be included in the yearbook on a special page honoring their great work.
This year’s Front Cover will be a drawing by Rhythm Johnston from Ms. KaLeddy’s class and the Back Cover will be a drawing by Madelyn Young from Ms. McCabe’s class! Congratulations to both Rhythm and Maddie!
