Dear Hill-Roberts Families,

We hope everyone is having a great weekend!

This Friday we held our January, whole-school, CREST (Caring, Respect, Excellence, Safety, and Trust) Assembly where we honored 31 Golden Huskies in grades K-4. In addition, we recognized the third grade, for demonstrating the most CREST-like values during lunch, with our Golden Spork trophy! Most impressively, we celebrated reaching our school-wide goal of earning over 25,000 CREST tickets! As a reward, on February 16th, the Friday before break, we will be having a school dance!

While this week’s Howler is mostly reminders, we are excited to announce the continuation of 2nd Grade Swim at the YMCA and our second, PTO-sponsored, Book Fair from 3/1-3/8!

Update - 2nd Grade Swim is Back!

Last year, our students had a blast taking swim lessons (with their class) once per week, for six weeks at the YMCA!  This is the second year of this district-wide partnership with the YMCA and we are excited to start our six-week rotation from Monday, February 26th until Friday, April 5th. During this rotation, each classroom will attend one morning class, once per week. Please be on the lookout for a welcome letter and waiver form in your students backpacks this week. In addition, your child’s teacher will be reaching out this week with some helpful information. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Dr. Madden or, if it is swim specific, Mr. Joe Winston, YMCA Aquatics Director (508-409-0765;

Save the date! A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase

On March 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 PM, Attleboro Public Schools (APS) will host A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase. Now in the second year of this annual event, this evening is an opportunity for APS staff, students, families, and community organizations to come together as students throughout the district display their learning experiences and local community resources share information about their services and programs. The goal of this event is to bring all stakeholders from the community together to celebrate student successes and share resources. More information to come soon. We look forward to seeing you there!

Reminder - February Spirit Week/ District Food Policies

We will be having several fun, themed days the week of 2/14 (more on this soon!). Just a reminder about the District's food policy: no food or candy items are allowed to be sent to be shared with classmates. However, pencils, stickers, and cards are all perfectly fine to send in if you choose!”

Reminder - Grade 3 and 4 Student Survey (Week of 2/5)

Each year, students in grades 3-12 participate in a survey as part of Attleboro's involvement in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) which aims to help schools and the community measure school quality outside of simply relying on MCAS data. Our third and fourth grade students will be participating in this year's survey between now and February break. The survey takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is done during class. If you would like to see the results of previous surveys/questions, please visit the MCIEA School Quality Measures Dashboard.

Reminder - Nurse Update - Dental Visits, Vision and Hearing Screenings, Eyeglass Donations

  • Dental Visits - The  mobile dentist will be back at Hill Roberts on Tuesday, Feb 27th.  If your child was seen in the Fall, they will automatically be seen on this day.  If you do not have a dentist,  and would like your child to be seen, please contact the nurse for a sign up form.

  • Vision and Hearing screenings are moving along.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

  • Eyeglass Donations - I am still collecting eyeglasses for the South Attleboro Lions club, they accept adult and child single vision lenses, reading glasses.  They are not able to use progressive style lenses.  Please send them in with your student to bring to the nurse.
